BLM issues decision for Fire Emergency Stabilization and Burned Area Rehabilitation Project
CARSON CITY, Nev. — The Bureau of Land Management has issued a Decision to conduct emergency stabilization and burned area rehabilitation (ES&R) on BLM-managed lands impacted by the 2026 Bug and Stallion fires in Washoe County, Nevada and Lassen and Sierra Counties, California. The project will implement ES&R actions to benefit and expedite the recovery of public lands and associated natural and cultural resources affected by the wildfires in the area.
Actions over the duration of the project include seeding of desirable grasses, shrubs, and forbs, hand planting of sagebrush and other shrub species, rangeland improvement and infrastructure repair, herbicide treatments targeting noxious weeds and invasive annual grasses, and cultural resource protection.
