BLM Invites Applications for Special Recreation Permits in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

LAS VEGAS — The Bureau of Land Management is inviting applications for various full-time guided recreation activity permits, called Special Recreation Permits, in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. 

The application window is open Oct. 1–Dec. 31, 2026, and permits are expected to be awarded by March 31, 2027. Full details and application instructions can be found in the 2026 Red Rock Canyon Permit Opportunity Prospectus. 

The specific open permit allocations are as follows:

• Five for artistic or fitness-based activities, such as yoga, meditation, running, painting, or photography;
• One for four-wheel driving activities on designated roads;
• One for equestrian-related activities on designated trails;
• Three for motorized two- or three-wheel vehicles such as scooters, segways, or motorcycles;
• Two for hiking-based guided activities on designated trails;
• One for biking-based guided activities on designated roads and trails.

All applications must be received through RAPTOR, the BLM’s online permit portal. Other Special Recreation Permits, such as for large events and those covered under the EXPLORE Act, are not included as a part of this invitation. After the closing date, submitted proposals will be rated by a selection panel and the top-rated proposals will be referred for possible award.
