BLM Approves Zayo Fiber Optic Right-of-Way
CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management has approved a right-of-way to Zayo Group, LLC for a buried fiber optic line north of Interstate 80 (1-80) within Washoe County, Nevada, from Spanish Springs Canyon east of Sparks, ending just west of Clark, near the Estuary Solar Farm. The project area would go through the Pah-Rah Range.
The project would be located within the same right-of-way corridor as the Nevada Middle Mile Project, led by the State of Nevada Office of Science, Innovation, and Technology (OSIT). OSIT'S goal is to improve broadband access in the region, reduce latency for data transmission, and increase long-haul network reliability and redundancy. The Middle Mile project's proposed intent to comply with the MOBILE NOW Act and Executive Order 138212 to bring affordable, reliable, high-speed broadband to every American.
