The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Price Field Office has approved the Gunnison Watershed School District Special Recreation Permit Categorical Exclusion (DOI-BLM-UT-G020-2027-0003-CE) and issued a decision authorizing organized educational hiking, camping, and canyoneering activities for high school students on public lands administered by the Price Field Office within the San Rafael Swell Recreation Area and the Muddy Creek Wilderness.

The approved permit allows the Gunnison Watershed School District to conduct outdoor education programs designed to provide leadership development, experiential learning, and natural and cultural resource stewardship training in accordance with an approved operating plan. Following review under the National Environmental Policy Act, the BLM determined the action qualifies for a categorical exclusion and will support educational recreation opportunities while maintaining protections for public land resources.
